| Today
everyone is talking about the need to have a strong core but
what does this really mean and why do we need one?
Your core can be described as the ‘engine room of the
body’, the epicentre which is responsible for the body’s
balance and stability. A strong core is essential to execute
effectively all our everyday basic movement patterns e.g.
standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting etc.
A weak core can lead to lower back pain, poor posture and
‘lazy abdominal muscles’.
There are many ways to improve core stability but Wendy believes
that one of the most effective ways to strengthen the core
muscles is by using a Swiss ball. The Swiss ball forces the
body to use the key stabiliser muscles which control our balance
and movement patterns. In just a few sessions, Wendy can show
you a number of extremely effective, simple Swiss ball exercises
that can be done in the comfort of your home. Exercises that
will make you look and feel better physically.
Wendy can also advise you on the benefits of trading in your
office chair for a Swiss ball to reduce the risk of lower
back pain. You never know, you might set an office trend! |
