| Modern
day living has led to an increase in the incidence of back pain
and other injuries. Unlike our ancestors who were hunters and
gatherers, the majority of the population spend 90% of the day
sitting down either at the office or at home. Unfortunately,
our bodies were not designed to lead a sedentary lifestyle and
this has led to poor posture and muscle imbalances.
Muscles in our body work in patterns, like the components
of a car. Weakness in one area will almost certainly cause
problems in another. We need to keep active to ensure that
our bodies function correctly and help reduce the risk of
injuries.
At the initial consultation, Wendy examines the client’s
posture to check for any muscle imbalances that may need to
be addressed. She will also look at how your workstation is
set up to see if any modifications can be made i.e. is the
chair too low, computer screen too high.
During the workout session, Wendy aims to incorporate all
seven of the primal movement patterns (squat, bend, lunge,
push, pull, twist and gait) that we use on a daily basis.
The ability to perform the above movements will ensure a strong,
fit and healthy body.
Wendy also works closely with Putney Chiropractor Centre
for a more in depth analysis of her client’s aches and
pains! |
